What is Wellness?
Wellness refers to having a healthy and fulfilling life. We all wish for such a life and although not everything is in our control, we can make certain choices and decisions that can promote a healthy, fulfilling and happy life.
In this booklet we will give you a few tips to help you man-age your health and stress levels. We will also focus on helping you create a healthy home environment for your children.
It has been proven over and over that to be a good parent you need to take care of yourself first. Take the time to read through this booklet and try and implement as many of the tips as possible.
We all feel stressed sometimes. It is normal. When we are very stressed we can even feel scared, worried, sad or irritated and do not function to the best of our ability. This is a horrible place to be.
There are simple things you can do to help you cope with stress such as:
* Have a positive attitude
* Keep a journal
* Colour in
* Exercise
* Get enough sleep
* Speak to a friend
* Have quality family time
* Have a routine and structure at home
Having a positive attitude gives you power over your cir-cumstances instead of the circumstances having power over you.
* Be grateful for what you have.
* Spend time with positive people.
* Get pleasure out of the simple things in life.
* Do things that make you happy.
* Say kind words to yourself.
* Smile/laugh often.
* Use positive language e.g., I’m feeling stronger today. My best is good enough.
